Basic Backpacking Course
The Indoor Session will consist of classroom instruction with some hands on work. The Outdoor Session simulates a backpacking experience with exercises keyed to learn by doing. The exam is a “Take-Home” test and is given out at the end of the Indoor Session and collected at the beginning of the Outdoor Session. For the indoor session participants are asked to bring a bag lunch for both Saturday and Sunday as there is limited time for the lunch break. Also, participants are asked to bring their backpacks (fully loaded) for the Sunday Indoor session. If

This course is required to receive a blue HAT card and number. You will need the card and the membership number to lead Scouts on a backpacking trip. Basic Backpacking Awareness RequalificationFor experienced, certified backpacking trip leaders. If you completed Basic Backpacking Awareness five or more years ago, its time to requalify. Get the latest information, updated forms and requirements, in a condensed course tailored especially for seasoned backpacking leaders. Cost: $25.00 until November 1; $35.00 afterwards. |
